EPOS FOR TAKEAWAY COUNTERS
Takeaway EPOS systems for counter orders and kitchen preparation
Connect staff product selection, configured payment and eligible preparation items in your takeaway workflow. Choose the software and compatible counter equipment around the orders your team handles.
This page describes staff-entered counter orders. Customer online checkout, scheduled collection and delivery management require separate confirmation.
TAKE THE ORDER
Start with the products and order controls staff need
Select products
Staff select products from the configured catalogue and use customer lookup where relevant. Demonstrate how your menu items are represented before choosing the setup.
Review the order
Use the supported order queue and eligible updates. The actions available depend on the order’s state.
Handle payment
Use the payment methods configured for the till. Confirm whether each method processes payment through an integration or records a payment completed elsewhere.
Catalogue selection does not by itself establish meal deals, modifiers or substitutions. Ask to see the exact choices your staff need to enter.

PREPARATION HANDOVER
Send eligible product items to the configured kitchen queue
Eligible ordinary product preparation items can be sent to the kitchen display at payment, where the relevant setup is enabled. Staff can review tickets, mark individual items Done and use the supported ticket controls.
Confirm which products qualify and when they appear in your proposed workflow. A preparation ticket does not by itself provide a customer collection time, notification or handover status.

CHANGES DURING SERVICE
Check the effect of an order change before relying on it
Supported POS updates depend on the order’s eligibility. Do not assume that changing an order automatically amends a kitchen ticket already being prepared.
Establish how staff communicate changes, cancellations and customer requirements to the preparation team. An order note is not a substitute for direct confirmation of allergies or other essential requests.
THE COUNTER SETUP
Choose the till, payment and receipt equipment together
Staff till
Plan the terminal around product entry, staff reach and available counter space. Confirm the software and connection requirements for the proposed equipment.
Payment terminal
Integrated terminal payments require a compatible device, connector and gateway. Demonstrate how staff confirm the result and handle an uncertain or unsuccessful payment.
Receipt printing
Confirm the required receipt output and supported printer. Printer discovery and testing depend on the relevant online connector and equipment setup.
PRODUCT AND TRANSACTION RECORDS
Review the records behind counter service
Stock and purchasing
Maintain product stock records and use supported supplier purchasing and goods receipt. Product inventory does not establish ingredient recipes or wastage calculations.
Customer loyalty
Configure eligible points earning and redemption where supported. Confirm the qualifying purchases, customer requirements and channels before offering rewards.
Reporting
Review supported order, payment and product information using the available periods and filters. Check the definitions and included statuses behind each result.
REQUIREMENTS BEYOND THE COUNTER
Confirm online ordering and delivery as separate journeys
If customers need to order and pay online, choose a collection time or request delivery, ask to see that complete journey separately. Staff POS, activity booking, table QR ordering and kiosk screens do not establish an online takeaway service.
Include any requirements for delivery areas, fees, drivers, customer messages or third-party platforms in your demonstration request. Do not assume they are included in the counter workflow described here.
TEST YOUR TAKEAWAY WORKFLOW
Bring a typical order and its exceptions to the demonstration
Your menu choices
Show the items, combinations and variations customers request. Confirm exactly how staff can enter them.
The preparation stage
Check product eligibility, payment timing and the kitchen controls staff will use.
Changes and payment issues
Demonstrate the supported handling of order changes and unsuccessful payments. Confirm cancellation, refund and kitchen-amendment behaviour separately.
Equipment and terms
Confirm the hardware, modules and connections in the quotation. Obtain any installation, training, support or trial terms before relying on them.
